Lame.... not Gay
Although many court rooms across the country ban same sex marriage, it is only constitutional to allow equal rights to any human. Whether they love men, or women; every person in the United Sates of America deserves equal marriage rights. Love, whether it is between a man and a man or a woman and a woman, is an uncontrolled feeling, that can not be chosen or replaced. Some people will say that being gay is a choice, but I will argue that you can not choose who you love, love is an uncontrollable feeling, and it should be acceptable to allow love with any two beings. By making marriage illegal, you are denying many financial rights and benefits to married couples. By being a married you get a huge break in taxes, and insurance, and many other things that are huge financial problems to many people in the country and in the world. By removing the ability to marry the opposite sex, the government is not only being unfair and unjust, but removing legal rights of humans to money. Gay marriage should not only be legal, but gay people all over the world should be accepted.
Negotiation with terrorists!
I think that we should not be mean to terrorists. People just want to see something big happen like killing and new weapons. I now that it is nice for us to get our anger out but it’s also not nice to treat others that way. First of all because it starts big wars and than they never end than many people died in wars. like what happened on September 11 they began war and we fallowed. the war has still not end. when will it end if we are not nice with them.
Beauty Contests are Harmful
Beauty contests are harmful to the young women who enter the competitions. There can only be one winner and the rest of the contestants are left feeling unworthy, ugly and unintelligent. Beauty competitions claim that they boost the confidence of its contestants, but how can the losers feel more confident when they know that they lost to someone who was more beautiful and had a better personality than they did? Contestants also strive to be someone who they are not in order to win, which can not be healthy. Why should we teach girls that they need to be pretty and well-spoken in order to succeed? We should be encouraging natural beauty and self confidence in less superficial ways. All girls deserve to feel beautiful and they should not be judged on their features and personality by people who do not even know them. In addition, there are no real benefits of beauty pageants, in fact beauty pageants cause more harm than good. According to a study by Johns Hopkins, more than half of beauty contestants since 1970 have had a body mass index (BMI) below 18.5 meaning they are in the undernourished category. The healthy BMI category is between 20 and 25 as defined by the World Health Organization. Girls should not feel as though they are more beautiful when they are underweight and obviously unhealthy. Beauty contests do not boost confidence and cause girls to go to unhealthy extremes in order to become something they are not.
DO not Legalize performance enhancing drugs
We should not legalize performance enhacing drugs! Making it in professional sports should require hard work, commitment, and lots of protien, not syringes, pills, and other drugs. Professional sports should be about men who have worked hard and made it in the big leuges not drug addicated athletes that dont have enough patience or disapline to get in a weight room. We must keep performance enhancing drugs out of professional sports.
The Morning After Pill
The morning after pill is used after sex for women who fear they could become pregnant. This pill is 98-99% effective at eliminating the chance of pregnancy, and is being used by over 150,000 teens. Women should have the option to take this pill without consent from their parents. The choice to have a child or take away the chance to have a child is not up to the parent of the teen. If a parent wants to prevent the chance of their teen from becoming pregnant, then they should take the precautions necessary to give the proper information about sex and the results that can come from sex. This pill can diminish the need of abortions and overall stress.
NASA funding
In the middle of a national economic downturn, in a world where every other second a person dies from starvation, a world where 10.6 million children die annually from treatable disease and a world where global warming is threatening the existence of us all, is it right that every year $17 billion dollars are spent to fund NASA space exploration? NASA is an American organisation set up in 1958 that funds research and manned and unmanned space launches. In the past NASA has launched satelites, sent a man to the moon, launched space stations and highly technical telescopes. All of this has given us important information, but lately we have not gained any new critical research from NASA. In the past 20 or so years NASA space exploration has resulted in 17 deaths. And yet from this, little practical scientific research has resulted. The obsession of men and flight exploration shows NASA is using more and more money for media attention and less for useful scientific knowledge. Yet, with 17 billion dollars, more can be done. Did you know 95% of the worlds oceans are still unexplored? Did you know that every year thousands of new plant and animal species are being discovered? Spending money exploring our planet should be a top priority, before we explore other planets. For a few cents a day a child in Africa can be sent to school. For less than $500 dollars an animal such a a sheep, goat or cow can be sent to a family in a third world country. Sending just a few animals to a remote village can efficiently boost their economy and end starvation. People can not only eat their animals but can gain money from animal products such as milk or wool. For only $100 dollars a clean water well can be built and save hundreds of lives. Now...for those of you who aren't math geniuses, I'll help you out with that. For that much money 170,000,000 wells could be built. 425,000,000 children could be educated or thousands of animals could be sent to Ethiopia, India or Guatemala. Sometimes people don't realize what can be done for such a small amount of money. Instead of sending another robot to Mars to tell us interesting, but otherwise useless information, lets help save our planet. However, all NASA spending should not be cut. NASA does spend money researching on important environmental issues by taking satelite photographs and studying the ozone layer. More money needs to be spent on projects like these that will help stop global warming. So, my solution, the government greatly reduces the amount of taxpayer money being sent to fund NASA. Instead the money is used to help boost the economy, fund Earth and Ocean exploration and fund projects to help people in need. The rest of the money sent to NASA should be solely used to fund environmental projects UNTIL a set goal is reached. This goal could be getting the economy back to where it was or until the percentage of world wide starvation has significantly decreased. Maybe the goal would be to decrease the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere. Either way, goals to better the earth need to be set and reached before more taxpayer money is spent to send men to the moon, again.
dont be a d!ck
the assumtion that drugs are bad for you is a highly fallacious assertion. Anyone who has watched Super High Me knows that pot dosnt affect your ability to retain information. In fact bud releases Dopamin and Seratonin into your brain in larger quantities than is found in people who do not smoke pot. Dopamin is responsible for learning and memory, so why would pot make you have memory loss and trouble learning if you have larger amounts of the chemicals that make you better able to learn and retain information. Pot should be leagal, Acid should be legal, ecstacy should be legal, mushrooms should be legal, and lastly black tar heroin, but methamphetamine is bad, along with GHB, cocaine, crack, opium, and PCP. Acid and mushrooms, as well as peyote are good for you. Pyscadelics take you on a spiritual journey into the inner most regions of your being, opening your eyes and your brain to who you are and why you exist, without these drugs humans would be lost in the quest to find who they are. You cant have fun ever without Ecstacy. E is a party drug, its also good for you, it makes you want to drink an adequate amount of water. statistics show that 80% of americans dont drink enough water everyday. Black tar heroin is self explanatory, you should know why it should be legal, but for those of you who are d!icks i will enlighten you. Black Tar Heroin dealers make a sh!t load of money, they spend that money on Plasma screens and other unneccassary things, all the while they have money in the bank to pay for it, which in turn boosts the economy. Right now though, we are spending lots of money to fight against drugs, which is payed for by the government which is driving this country into the ground. anywhay heroin users are to f^cked up to cause anyone any harm. All the drugs i said should be illegal are extremly dangereous, a small amount can cause an overdose, and its better for the economy to bust dealers that deal those drugs than to let them go, which is not the case with heroin. You should have a similar viewpoint, so please dont be a d!ck.
zoos are good mannnn.
Keeping animals accommodated in zoos is highly beneficial to the environment. By displaying semi rare and other animals in large cities everywhere, zoos are eliminating the need for people to travel vast distances to see the animals that interest them. Eliminating the need to travel, zoos are also cutting down on the amount of carbon omissions that are being pumped into the atmosphere. Another way that zoos assists the environment is to help near-extinct animals make a comeback, thus balancing out the food chain once again. A good example is when the condors were highly threatened of going extinct. All of the zoos which contained condors banded together and started breeding more and more of them until they reached a stable number in the wild.
Sex Offender Privacy
When thinking about whether or not personal information regarding sex offenders such as their name, address and other aspects of their life it seems obvious that this information should be released. They sexually assaulted someone against the victim's will and therefore, those that live near them or those who may be considering hiring them for a potential job should be aware of this fact. Sexual assault is something that is highly and often disregarded and many turn a blind eye, however, it is a very serious issue and should not be taken lightly, in Colorado alone there are 6802 publicly registered sex offenders. As my mother is the director of a resource center for those who have been sexual assaulted or are victims of domestic violence, I know more than I wish to in terms of how often sexual assault really does occur, even in the tiny town of Telluride. Therefore, it is an issue that strikes really hard in me and through my mom's work I have met many victims and heard their stories and the brutality they have endured. There are very many concerns in terms of privacy and how greatly the offender's life will forever be implicated because of the mistake they made but really it is a huge and disturbing one that they should be punished for. Someone does not unknowingly sexually abuse or assault someone, offenders know what they are doing and choose to do it anyway and people deserve to know who these people are and the fact that they have committed such acts of violence.
No Cell Phones while driving
Although cell phones are a great convenience to our society now a day, they add unnecessary risk when people use them while driving. To begin with, they are a great physical distraction. Opening the phone and holding the phone takes a driver’s hands from the wheel and their control of steering, and during busy hours of the day it is incredibly important for people to be able to react to situations quickly. Also, cell phones give a person the opportunity to text while driving, a practice that takes both a person’s hands and eyes off the road. All this combination results in is slower reaction time to incidents on the road, and a plethora of accidents, usually involving two or more cars. Perhaps the most important point towards making use of a cell phone while driving illegal is because of the mental aspects. Not only can people become too caught up in the conversations they have to pay much attention to what other drivers on the road are doing, but emotions can be swiftly introduced to the mix, impairing judgment. Unpleasant news is only a phone call away and an upset driver will have a much harder time driving while distracted by his emotion than he would normally be. The distraction cell phones introduce while driving, both emotional and physical, are dangerous for everyone on the road, and it should be made illegal to use them while driving.
Drug Testing Students
Students should not be drug tested. They should only be tested if there is good reason such as juvenile diversion. But other than that, there is no logical reason to do it. If you were to take a random student and drug test him without reason, it's not very fair to him. Without proof of a student actually using drugs, drug tests should not happen. I know I wouldn't want someone taking me out of class randomly and make me pee in a cup. I would freak out and probably scream at them then leave. So yeah, drug tests should only happen with good reason and proof.
Oil and Car Companies
Well I'm pretty sure that everyone knows what I'm going to argue for this, but I will do it anyways. Oil and car companies need incentive to take initiative on climate change. For some reason the fact that no one will survive the coming crisis escapes oil executives. According to many scientists, the deadline for acting on climate change is next year, 2010. We have no time to waste. A grassroots movement, a grassroots revolution is necessary in my eyes. But change comes from the bottom up and the top down. Regulation should be passed immediately to combat this problem. Slimy (pun intended) oil execs must be made aware of their impact on our future, and must be forced to compensate for it. Since we have established that the American Masses are too apathetic and hopped up on consumerism to mobilize themselves, the enlightened members of society must work their hardest to make the change we need. WAKE UP! What these people, Fox News, CNN, Dick Cheney, CEOs, what they are telling you we need to fix the economy, to make you feel happier, to provide for your family, IS FALSE. Break free from your standstill. We have to make the rich people who are stealing your money and your future pay. I'm not a very vengeful person, but much of the blame must fall on their shoulders.
That's all beside the point though. The point is that if we want tour "great civilization" to survive, if we want to live our entire lives in it, then we must protect it. I don't believe it will survive. I believe we will fall much harder than anyone expects, and much of what we have worked for will be destroyed and we will return to a previous way of life. But if we do not act with the urgency, then humans will not survive at all.
Some rich assholes just need some government intervention to jump start their moral redemption.

Illegal Music Downloading
Hmmm...how do I feel about this subject? Personally, no I don't do it, so I guess I'm against it. It is unfair to the artists and businesses such as iTunes, and if everyone did it (if it wasn't illegal) the artists and producers and composers and whatever wouldn't have a job. It would be like an underappreciation for them. How would they be able to do what they want if they didn't get any money for it? Sadly that's the case with a lot of aspirations people have, but this one has been going on forever! Just think about it though, if there was no income option for the people who make music happen, there would definitely be not as many bands = not as much music = horrible. I don't know about you all, but music is a HUGE part of my life (and I actually I know for a fact, that it is for you too) and I'm not sure how the world would react if it was taken away from us (I mean on like the scale it is in our society today...). I don't really care that other people do it though; it's your choice. So I think, the situation it's in today is good...there's some people that do it, and some people that don't...just enough to keep it going I guess. And I do admit, I do get a bunch of music from the library (haha I guess that is illegal music downloading...whoops, I guess I do do it sometimes...), but I mean I guess the library has to buy the CD so.......haha, alright, I'm not trying to cure my guilt (I really don't feel bad about it actually [library i mean]) but woa! off subject, i apologize. Basic opinion = i'm not really for the whole illegal music downloading scene (from the internet), but I think the state that it's in right now is fine. (but who knows about the future....) alright, hit me why u love illegal music downloading and why is should be legal....
Censorship of the web
The internet should not be censored. The internet should be a place where anyone can publish anything they want for the public to see. The internet also lets us communicate massive amounts of information faster than anything else. We wouldn’t hear about events half way across the world for months rather than minutes. Another reason censoring the internet would not be a good idea is who would decide. Who would choose what goes on the internet and what doesn’t. If they did manage to censor the internet and shut down websites, people would always find a way around it or make a new site. This would create too much of a problem for the public and the media.
Americas Failed Health Care
The United States is one of the only world powers, to deny free health care to the people. The insurance companies that hav3 taken the place of socialized medicine are making billions of dollars every year, a good percentage of which they use to bribe political figures, essentially paying for their freedom to enslave the people of America with outrageous prices, and horrible health care. If anything should be completely illegal, torturing millions of people by refusing them the right to live without constant fear of injury, and hence bankruptcy is the most clearly morally wrong. President Obama, although seemingly heroic, is also known to have taken a considerable amount in bribe money since, and before, he took office in 2009. Although he had plans for socialized medicine, free health care for everyone, these plans are now just dust in the wind. And even though our major allies and even old enemies have figured out how to fit this free health care into their budget, the United States still lags behind. I believe it is time for the people to bring upon these corporations what is coming to them, just as the titan J. P. Morgan and Mr. Rockefeller were somewhat brought to justice, at least their railroad and oil corporations that had monopolized the US were brought to their knees in front of the people, so will these Medical Giants. Who knows, maybe even one of the worlds most widely used medicines, one known to treat ADHD, chronic pain, schizophrenia, nausea, low bl0o0d pressure and a plethora of other ailments will be legalized.
Beauty contests harmful
Beauty Contests take place all over the country. Beauty contest are a good way to boost confidence levels in children and also show off their beauty that they are blessed with. Many people dissagree with beauty contests and believe that they have created a fake image that all girls should strive for. Not every girl has to be like what they see on tv or in magazines. People have to choice to be who they are, or try to be something they are not. Pagents are good for money and the boost of confidence that comes with winning. These days community service is a big part in beauty pagents. Many pagents raise money to give to other countries that are in need and children that don't have as much. Beauty contests not only consist of standing up on stage in a swim suit or a stunning dress they focus on interviews and what feautures the person has on the inside.
Gay Marriage
So I am pro-gay marriage. I have searched the interwebs for about 15 minutes now and have not found any arguments that I deem viable to band gay marriage. Infact I have only found two arguments clearly posted on the hyperspace. These two arguments are, that gay marriage is ungoddly and will send the gays strait to hell, and Bill O'Reilly was quoted stating that gay marrage can lead to interspiecies marriage such as a dolfin marriing a goat. I find both of these arguments to be very lame. First of all, if i want to know why people always think that it's there job to keep others from going to hell, when they allready obviously don't have any regards to thinking in that manner. Then, for the interspiecies crap, I don't think i even need to state what is wrong with that imbecilic verbalization. Although, while searching the information highway I did find a pleathora of arguments that state why gays should have the right to marry. The strongest argument I found to support this, is that to take away gays right to marry is that denying them this right is a violation of religious freedom and so forth with violations of other rights.
For more for and against arguments, you can check out this link: http://www.balancedpolitics.org/same_sex_marriages.htm

Animals Kept in Captivity
Animals Kept in Captivity (Zoos)
Animals should not be in captivity because it disrupts their life and the cycle. By keeping some animals in captivity and not others, the population ratios will differ and then cause a chain reaction in the food chain. On the news there was an Elephant that was kept in a Zoo for its entire life and then started to have problems. People noticed that the elephant was rocking back and forth. The elephant would go for days without eating until a zoo keeper had to force feed it. Elephants are also nomadic like most animals and being kept in a small perimeter caused it to lose any mental ability that it had. Also, by keeping wild animals in order to be a window shopping item, these animals progressively become less scared of humans. An alligator was let back out into the Everglades in Florida. Later it was found to be located in a residential area that had a creek by it. The alligator had killed a dog and the owners had called the ASPCA to take care of it. It was then put down because it was a danger to humanity. However, we had made it become congenial with human places. We had made it become dangerous to us. Keeping animals in captivity is wrong and it negatively affects the animals. Animals should be appreciated from afar, not in a cage or behind a glass window.
Animals in Circuses
Animals in circuses are tortured into doing tricks. How can it be funny to see an enormous elephant climb onto a tiny stool and balance on it?! How is it cool to see a tiger jump through fire? Poachers capture tigers by encircling them in fire, having them jump through it for a crowd is unbearable.
should oil and car companies be given a deadline?
Oil and car companies should be given a deadline. We have the capability to have the co2 emissions so much lower then they are now. An average car emits 22 pounds of co2 for 1 gallon of gas, oil companies emit 350 million tons of co2 a year. Now times that by the number of cars on the rode or the number of oil companies, that is way to much co2. We know how to make all of the emissions less. The companies don't want to make them lower because it will cost them money. In order for us to change the amount of cos emitted there has to be a deadline put in place, making it so that in a couple of years all companies have to have there emissions down significantly. If we do this there will be less co2 in the air slowing down globule warming.

morning after pill
Although many people believe that the morning after pill is "killing a baby" is happens to be very convenient and useful for young women who are not ready for a baby and cannot afford birth control. The morning after pill gives women a window of 3-5 days after they have had unprotected sex to stop them from becoming pregnant. Women taking the pill are normally young teens, who are not ready for a baby. The pill does not kill the baby, because during the first week to two weeks the women is not pregnant with a fetus. A baby becomes a fetus 12 weeks after conception. I feel that a girl at the age of 16 should be allowed to take plan B without parental concent, waiting until the child is 18 is too risky. Many girls will be too afraid to ask their parents and will then take the risk of becoming pregnant. That is one other baby who is coming into the world with teenagers for parents. I think to take this drug away from girls who really need it is asking for trouble, and asking for more babies that end up in foster care.
Sex Ed in schools?
Although a variety of people are against sex education in schools, i feel it's completely necessary for the protection of all students. Each year, almost 750,000 teenage women aged 15–19 become pregnant, according to Family Planning Perspectives. The pregnancy rate is now rapidly declining, hopefully do to more effecient sexual education and realizations. Even though I approve of sexual education for protection and extended knowledge, I feel theres should be an age limit included in this issue. Students learn sex ed too early and in too much depth. They should learn about menstraul issues, and basic stuff for women, and low extent information by the age of 10 and then as they reach high school it should be in depth information involving condoms, AIDS/HIV, etc. Overall sexual education is completely acceptable in my opinion to a certain extent.
Drug Testing Students
In some schools around the world, teachers and faculty are testing students for drugs. Most tests are with cause, but some are random. I believe that if the decision is made to test a students for the use of any drug there should be some reason presented to the student. After this reason is presented, the faculty is free to test the student at their leisure. In High Schools today over 80% of students claim to have seen one of the following things in their school;
In conclusion, I believe that tests should be given out with a just reason. Students will have better grades and therefore have a better life. If signs of drug use are not presented in school, then the student should have nothing to worry about. Students can continue to act how they wish outside of school, but the number of students under the influence in schools will drop.
- Illegal drug use
- Illegal drug sales
- Students possessing illegal drugs
- Students high on drugs
- Students under the influence of alcohol

Legalizing Drugs
Legalizing Drugs is an issue that strikes people everywhere. There are many different views to this issue. Sompe people say that drugs are bad... not matter how you look at it, Drugs are bad, the people who do drugs are bad, they just cause problems and get people into trouble. Now others would say that drugs are good, if you dont like drugs then dont do them but dont ruin it for every one else. The fact of the matter is, drugs arent going to go away. whether you legalize them or not theres nothing you can do to prevent it from happeneing. Drugs arent legalized int eh U.S. but i garuntee they are being uesd. So the fact of legalizing them or not really doesnt matter, the only difference is if you get in trouble or not. I think if your willing to risk it while they arent legalized then your willing to risk the concequences. The problem is that drugs exist not whether they are legalized or not. The reason people dont want then legalized is because of the consquences that people face when they are intorduced to them... thats going to happen whether they are legal or not. Drugs are part of the world as a whole, legalized in some countries and illegal in others. The problems are all the same. "They won't go near the issue except at the edges, notably when voters in state after state approve "medical marijuana" in the clear realization that the drug-banning forces are cruelly indifferent to some kinds of human suffering that often can be alleviated with a well-filled water pipe." personally i think there is a line of what drugs can and cant be legalized. Marajuanna for example is used medically that shouldnt be banned, but other drugs such as meth and heroin are another story. The issue on legalizing drugs is not whether it should or shouldnt be legal, its the standing issue that drugs exsist.
Search Students Lockers
Students lockers should not be searched unless there is solid evidence that a specific student is dealing with any illegal item. Lockers are school supplied areas for students to place their unused items inbetween classes, which means they are property of the school, but students spend seven hours at school every day and they should have a safe and secure area to place their objects without fearing that their locker will be searched. Lockers are the one place in school that a student can incorporate their outside life with their educational life. Unstable students such as those that Columbine were denied the security of a secure area where they didn't have to fit in, and they could be unique. The contents of an individuals locker is not always illegal, but more so inappropriate. Teaches or staff should not abuse their power by searching students locker. They already have the power to deny the use of certain objects within the classroom, they should not have to enforce their power outside of the classroom as well. As it says in the fourth amendment of the constitution "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized." Students should have the freedom and the responsibility to place whatever their heart desires into their lockers without having to fear random locker checks. All lockers should be a safe sanctuary for students unless their is solid proof that the student is placing illegal objects into his locker.
NASA Funding
Space may be the final frontier, but what are we honestly looking for put there. NASA,is the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and is the only government agency in the couintry dedicated to the research of space. A major question nowadays is how much should this agency be funded? NASA's budget grew from 15.861 billion dollars in 2007 to 17.31817 billion dollars in 2008. Although this may seem like a lot of money, it is only 0.6 of federal spending. I beleive that this percentage is reasonable for the study of space. I beleive that it would be smart to slightly increase the budget of the agency if it would also focus on more domestic technolologies as in technoloogies that apply to earth. In the past many domestic technologies have been discovered through NASA's studies of space. I beleive that this will continue if we continue to fund NASA, but we should also increase their budget if they open up to directly looking for new technologies that apply ta earth, because earth is more important than space at this moment in time, but the study of space should cnatinue.
Music Downloading
Downloading music is very accesible these days. I say this because who really wants to buy music off of Itunes when you can get it for free on the internet or lime wire. Every one these days have thousands of music on either their Ipod or their computer. Most people get this music off of the internet because it is free. Who wants to buy a cd for $20.00 when you can easily get all these songs for FREE online. Also there might even be a song on the cd that you hate and dont like to listen to. If you buy the cd you are stuck with it, if you donwload the music you can exclude that one song that you would not listen to. On Itunes one song is $1.07 with tax, no one really wants to pay for anything if you have an option to get it for free. Music downloading in my opion makes the artist more known than itunes can. I believe this because the concept of making free downloads music reaches people in a more lesser amount of time thus it boots its popularity.
legalizing performance enhancing drugs
legalizing performance enhancing drugs has been a big debate for a a long time period. There has been many discussion over it because it is so controversial. Yes it might boost your strength and performance but the side effects some times out way it. Performance enhancing drugs have a some bad effects. The side effect for men are prominent breast, baldness, infertility, heart attack, and shrunken testicles. Form women the side effects are deeper voice, increased body hair, baldness and heart attack. These are just some of the side effects. So legalizing performance enhancing drugs should not happen. The facts are there. You might get stronger or run a little faster but its not worth the risk of the side effects. If you want to be bigger and stronger go to the gym more often or go for runs, you can still be big with out drugs. So now you've read through and you know what can happen, now i want you to post what you think.
