Like wtf?
The author put a warning in the begining of the book to tell you that the book was not exactly like how the real scopes trial was. He did this so he could write whatever he wanted, and stuff. It was good that he did this so people won't freak out if he said something that wasn't true to the real trial.

I agree. im tierd of people just excuseing all ties to reality in there books because they say it isnt 'exact'. The author felt like he could make it more interesting. AS Ivan said 'WTF'
I like how you surmized the begining of the book without a overly dramatic writing style.
I agree. The author is allowed to do whatever he wants with the story, but still staying on one specific subject. He can manipulate the facts into something that is more interesting, but still stays loyal to what the story is really about. What he writes may not be true, but the whole overview of the situation remains just about the same.
