Lame.... not Gay
Although many court rooms across the country ban same sex marriage, it is only constitutional to allow equal rights to any human. Whether they love men, or women; every person in the United Sates of America deserves equal marriage rights. Love, whether it is between a man and a man or a woman and a woman, is an uncontrolled feeling, that can not be chosen or replaced. Some people will say that being gay is a choice, but I will argue that you can not choose who you love, love is an uncontrollable feeling, and it should be acceptable to allow love with any two beings. By making marriage illegal, you are denying many financial rights and benefits to married couples. By being a married you get a huge break in taxes, and insurance, and many other things that are huge financial problems to many people in the country and in the world. By removing the ability to marry the opposite sex, the government is not only being unfair and unjust, but removing legal rights of humans to money. Gay marriage should not only be legal, but gay people all over the world should be accepted.
Negotiation with terrorists!
I think that we should not be mean to terrorists. People just want to see something big happen like killing and new weapons. I now that it is nice for us to get our anger out but it’s also not nice to treat others that way. First of all because it starts big wars and than they never end than many people died in wars. like what happened on September 11 they began war and we fallowed. the war has still not end. when will it end if we are not nice with them.
Beauty Contests are Harmful
Beauty contests are harmful to the young women who enter the competitions. There can only be one winner and the rest of the contestants are left feeling unworthy, ugly and unintelligent. Beauty competitions claim that they boost the confidence of its contestants, but how can the losers feel more confident when they know that they lost to someone who was more beautiful and had a better personality than they did? Contestants also strive to be someone who they are not in order to win, which can not be healthy. Why should we teach girls that they need to be pretty and well-spoken in order to succeed? We should be encouraging natural beauty and self confidence in less superficial ways. All girls deserve to feel beautiful and they should not be judged on their features and personality by people who do not even know them. In addition, there are no real benefits of beauty pageants, in fact beauty pageants cause more harm than good. According to a study by Johns Hopkins, more than half of beauty contestants since 1970 have had a body mass index (BMI) below 18.5 meaning they are in the undernourished category. The healthy BMI category is between 20 and 25 as defined by the World Health Organization. Girls should not feel as though they are more beautiful when they are underweight and obviously unhealthy. Beauty contests do not boost confidence and cause girls to go to unhealthy extremes in order to become something they are not.
DO not Legalize performance enhancing drugs
We should not legalize performance enhacing drugs! Making it in professional sports should require hard work, commitment, and lots of protien, not syringes, pills, and other drugs. Professional sports should be about men who have worked hard and made it in the big leuges not drug addicated athletes that dont have enough patience or disapline to get in a weight room. We must keep performance enhancing drugs out of professional sports.
The Morning After Pill
The morning after pill is used after sex for women who fear they could become pregnant. This pill is 98-99% effective at eliminating the chance of pregnancy, and is being used by over 150,000 teens. Women should have the option to take this pill without consent from their parents. The choice to have a child or take away the chance to have a child is not up to the parent of the teen. If a parent wants to prevent the chance of their teen from becoming pregnant, then they should take the precautions necessary to give the proper information about sex and the results that can come from sex. This pill can diminish the need of abortions and overall stress.
NASA funding
In the middle of a national economic downturn, in a world where every other second a person dies from starvation, a world where 10.6 million children die annually from treatable disease and a world where global warming is threatening the existence of us all, is it right that every year $17 billion dollars are spent to fund NASA space exploration? NASA is an American organisation set up in 1958 that funds research and manned and unmanned space launches. In the past NASA has launched satelites, sent a man to the moon, launched space stations and highly technical telescopes. All of this has given us important information, but lately we have not gained any new critical research from NASA. In the past 20 or so years NASA space exploration has resulted in 17 deaths. And yet from this, little practical scientific research has resulted. The obsession of men and flight exploration shows NASA is using more and more money for media attention and less for useful scientific knowledge. Yet, with 17 billion dollars, more can be done. Did you know 95% of the worlds oceans are still unexplored? Did you know that every year thousands of new plant and animal species are being discovered? Spending money exploring our planet should be a top priority, before we explore other planets. For a few cents a day a child in Africa can be sent to school. For less than $500 dollars an animal such a a sheep, goat or cow can be sent to a family in a third world country. Sending just a few animals to a remote village can efficiently boost their economy and end starvation. People can not only eat their animals but can gain money from animal products such as milk or wool. For only $100 dollars a clean water well can be built and save hundreds of lives. Now...for those of you who aren't math geniuses, I'll help you out with that. For that much money 170,000,000 wells could be built. 425,000,000 children could be educated or thousands of animals could be sent to Ethiopia, India or Guatemala. Sometimes people don't realize what can be done for such a small amount of money. Instead of sending another robot to Mars to tell us interesting, but otherwise useless information, lets help save our planet. However, all NASA spending should not be cut. NASA does spend money researching on important environmental issues by taking satelite photographs and studying the ozone layer. More money needs to be spent on projects like these that will help stop global warming. So, my solution, the government greatly reduces the amount of taxpayer money being sent to fund NASA. Instead the money is used to help boost the economy, fund Earth and Ocean exploration and fund projects to help people in need. The rest of the money sent to NASA should be solely used to fund environmental projects UNTIL a set goal is reached. This goal could be getting the economy back to where it was or until the percentage of world wide starvation has significantly decreased. Maybe the goal would be to decrease the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere. Either way, goals to better the earth need to be set and reached before more taxpayer money is spent to send men to the moon, again.
